CANNONS DROP ANOTHER ONE; LOSE LATE LEAD TO PG VALOR

December 18, 2017

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-December 17, 2017-The Philly Cannons (3-4) hosted the PG Valor (2-3) Saturday night in Philadelphia and dropped their third straight game 136-130 in an American Basketball Association (ABA) contest. The Cannons lead 123-119 with little over 2 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter but were done in by turnovers and missed free throws. “There’s no other way for me to look at it… I have to do a better job,” admitted a dejected Cannons Head Coach Roger Beckwith.

The Valor held the lead over the Cannons most of the game but could never shake them. In the second half, the Cannons began to assert themselves more and get stops and were able to take the lead. “We were missing a few players… a few guards so maybe that contributed to us having problems with their full court pressure,” said Beckwith. “But once we got that figured out, we were able to mount a comeback; now we just have to learn how to close out games. I know we didn’t shoot well from the free throw line either.”

The Philly Cannons, playing at the FiDonce Player Development Center for the second time this season, and only able to suit up seven (7) players, and were led by Kassim Green’s 35 and Rell Harrington’s 31 points. Ben Holl and Braheim Dixon added 20 points apiece and Jeff Giddings (14) reached double figures despite constant foul trouble that kept him on the bench for long stretches of the game. The Cannons now sit at 3-4 and will host the Elmira Eagles on Saturday January 6, 2017 at 1 PM.  The game will take place at Lindenwold High School 801 Egg Harbor Road, Lindenwold New Jersey 08021.

The ABA consists of over 100 teams nationwide, and the Cannons compete in the Chesapeake Division with the Baltimore Hawks, Prince George County Valor, Pottstown Flames, NEPA Stars and Stripes, York Buccaneers, Reading Wizards, Steel City Yellow Jackets, and the Western Maryland Bulldogs. Please visitwww.phillycannons.com& www.abaliveaction.com for more information.
