Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-March 4, 2020-The Philly Cannons of the American Basketball Association (ABA) have partnered with the City Commissioners Office to provide instruction on using the new Voting Machines that will be utilized during the upcoming election next month. An actual machine will be present at the game for residents to practice casting their ballots. Additionally, area residents will be able to register to vote, and receive information on key dates pertaining to the 2020 election at the March 7th home finale versus the nationally ranked Ephrata Thunder. Free admission is being offered between 12 Noon and 12:30 PM with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 PM. The game will take place at the Lucien E. Blackwell Center located in West Philadelphia. “The Philly Cannons will continue to be a resource for our community so this partnership with the City to bring Voting Machines and Voter Registration is in line with that mission,” said Team President Roger Beckwith. Local celebrity entertainer, Taffy the Clown, a frequent courtside fixture at Philadelphia 76ers games, will be present from Noon to 1:00 PM doing balloon art. “I am so happy Taffy has agreed to participate in our home finale; she is awesome with children and adults alike and we hope to have a festive atmosphere as we try to secure a win in our final home game of the 2020 season.” Beckwith elaborated. The Cannons, 6-11 on the season after last week’s loss to the Philly Raiders, hope to close out the regular season with a win before preparing to face the Fredericksburg Grizzlies in the first round of the single elimination ABA playoffs. The Blackwell Community Center is located at 761 N 47th Street, Philadelphia PA 19131. The cost of admission after 12:30 PM will be $10 and children 12 and under are free.
