Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-November 27, 2019-The Philly Cannons of the American Basketball Association (ABA) have partnered with Graison Taylor Custom Sewing and the James Wright Recreation Center in the Mantua section of West Philadelphia to provide three (3) Thanksgiving baskets full of holiday meal items to families in need. “We recognize that our community has a lot of need, and although we would like to be able to help more, it gives us great personal reward to be able to lend a hand in this manner,” said Philly Cannons Team President, Roger Beckwith. Team Sponsor and longtime supporter, Graison Taylor Custom Sewing, donated several items to be included in the baskets while the James Wright Recreation Center staff was able to identify and coordinate with the families that will be the recipients of this donation. The Cannons, who sport a record of 2-1 on the season after dropping a 152-147 decision to the Baltimore Hawks on November 16th, do not return to action until a home date with the York Buccaneers on December 14, 2019. The game will take place at the Lucien E. Blackwell Community Center, located at 761 N 47th Street, Philadelphia PA 19131. In continuing the spirit of giving this holiday season, the Cannons will be accepting donations of can goods and other items at the December 14th game against York for a Christmas Basket Giveaway. “The Cannons are always looking for ways to impact the community, so these holiday giveaways are just one way of working towards that mission,” reiterated Beckwith. The ABA consists of over 150 teams nationwide, and the Cannons compete in the Mid Atlantic Division with the Baltimore Hawks, DC Soul, Hub City Hogs, Pottstown Flames, Virginia Veterans, West Chester Wildcats, York Buccaneers, Richmond Elite, PG Valor, the Fredericksburg Grizzlies, Roanoke Rising Stars, and the West Virginia Warlocks.
