Assistant Coach Duane Haney was promoted to Associate Head Coach right before the tip-off to the Philly Cannons season opener versus the visiting Pottstown Flames Saturday night (10/27/18) at the Steelton-Highspire High School’s famed Martin K Benkovic Gymnasium in an American Basketball Association (ABA) contest. Haney, in his second season coaching for the Cannons, assumed head duties then lead the Cannons to a 136-98 victory over the neighboring Flames, who fell to 0-1.

The Cannons jumped out quick on the upstart Flames, who are in their second season in the ABA, with a 24-15 lead and maintained comfortably throughout the game. Philadelphia placed 7 players in double figures led by Rell Harrington’s 28 and Sheed Walker’s 21. Highly touted rookie swingman, Sahn Brinkley, debuted for the Cannons with 19 points while Ramair “Juice” Garner and Shawn Green both contributed 17 apiece.

On Sunday afternoon (10/28) at Holy Redeemer High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the Cannons visited the NEPA Stars and Stripes and skipped town with a 155-111 victory. Philadelphia dressed 10 players for the road trek and placed all of them in double figures led by sensational rookie guard Will Brown’s 29 points. Newcomer Andre Rivers scored 20 points, while Rell Harrington had 18.
