PHILLY PREVAILS OVER POTTSTOWN
Pottstown, Pennsylvania-November 25, 2017-The Philly Cannons needed a turnaround jumper from Deione “Dex” Latham with 1.3 seconds left on the clock to turn back the pesky Pottstown Flames 111-110 in an American Basketball Association (ABA) contest Saturday night. The Cannons, who are now 3-1, will host the Baltimore Hawks Sunday evening with tip-off expected approximately 8 PM. The home opener will take place at the Lenfest Center 3890 N 10th Street in Philadelphia.
“I would prefer a larger margin of victory, and we are certainly fortunate to escape with a W” said Philly Cannons Head Coach, Roger Beckwith. “Hats off to Stephen Bergman and the Pottstown Flames Organization because they played well enough to win.”
Kassim Green did a lot of damage inside, leading the Cannons with 29 points, while Ben Holl provided timely outside shooting to the tune of 16 points (4-5 on threes). Shawn Green and Jeff Giddings both contributed 14 points to put four Cannons in double figures. “We have a lot of room for improvement and will need to play better tomorrow night to have a chance with Baltimore,” stated Beckwith.
After hosting the Baltimore Hawks, the Cannons will resume action December 9th when they host the DMV Warriors at 7 PM. The game will take place at the Lenfest Center, 3890 N 10th Street, Philadelphia, PA. The ABA consists of over 100 teams nationwide, and the Cannons compete in the Chesapeake Division with the Baltimore Hawks, Prince George County Valor, Pottstown Flames, NEPA Stars and Stripes, York Buccaneers, Reading Wizards, Steel City Yellow Jackets, and the Western Maryland Bulldogs.
