Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-November 26, 2017-The Baltimore Hawks used a late surge to pull out a 126-109 victory in an American Basketball Association (ABA) contest Sunday night. The Philly Cannons, who were playing their home opener at the Lenfest Center in Philadelphia, got another big scoring night from Kassim Green but ultimately could not keep pace with the athletic and pesky Hawks. The game was close for three quarters and a half, with both teams exchanging leads several times before Baltimore went on a closing run that made the game look more lopsided than it actually was. The Cannons now sit at 3-2 after going 1-1 over the weekend with a win over Pottstown preceding the Baltimore loss.
“Baltimore is a veteran ball club in the ABA and I was looking forward to playing them after not being able to schedule with them last season,” explained Philly Cannons Head Coach Roger Beckwith. “I have to do a better job of getting my players in position to win the game in the fourth quarter; we’ll regroup and learn from this [game].” Kassim Green led the Cannons with 33 points, while Shawn Green added 17.
The Cannons resume action Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at 7 PM when they host the DMV Warriors. The game will take place at the Lenfest Center, located 3890 N 10th Street, Philadelphia PA 19140. The ABA consists of over 100 teams nationwide, and the Cannons compete in the Chesapeake Division with the Baltimore Hawks, Prince George County Valor, Pottstown Flames, NEPA Stars and Stripes, York Buccaneers, Reading Wizards, Steel City Yellow Jackets, and the Western Maryland Bulldogs.
